Early 2011 I was in contact with ISC media director Tim Hain. He had been toying with the idea of coming up to score a secret little wave just north of Cherating – one of Malaysia’s epic lefthand points. He came over in February, bringing Raditya Rondi in tow, but unfortunately this time round we were unlucky - the swell was there but conditions weren’t in our favour. We still managed to score a few good waves, Raditya got a couple of decent barrel shots (including one epic barrel superman air combo), and we put together a bit of footage. A while back Billabong was also kind enough to send us on a little surf trip to our next door neighbour, Aceh, to check out the scene. On board was myself, Mamat, and Billabong Asia brand manager Peter Thew. Pics taken by Aril. We didn’t score epic swell, but had a week of fun waves and a few rounds on the golf course. Definitely going back again next season, hopefully to score this time!
