21st Sept 2010, Kuala Lumpur - It is confirmed that Billabong Malaysia will be sending their team riders to Phuket, Thailand for the Annual Quiksilver Surf Competition 2010 which will be held on 22-26th September in Kata Beach.
This event is arguable as the most prestige event in Thailand and for the first time surfers from all over South East Asia are expected to compete in this event that will have three divisions of competition (Men’s Open, Women’s Open, and Longboard) offering a total prize purse of over $7,500 USD (240,000 THB). The Men’s Open winner will receive 50,000 THB, the Women’s Open winner 30,000 THB, and the Longboard winner 30,000 THB. First to fourth places in each division will receive cash, trophies and prize packs from Quiksilver and other sponsors.
This year representing Billabong team Malaysia are one of our best "Mamat Daud", "Muhammad Didaqt" and "Mohd Nazrin (Yen)". According to the team riders, this is their 2nd time competing in Phuket and they are very excited and happy about competing there again. Besides the team riders, Billabong Malaysia's Manager Fairus Ahmad was also delighted with the opportunity to come on-board as the team manager representing the Malaysia Billabong Team Riders in Phuket, Thailand. All three riders will compete in the Open Division and this send out a clear & loud message that the Malaysia Team Riders are there to stir some waves.
