2007 ASP World Champ, Rip Curl's Mick Fanning took the 2009 Hurley Pro Trestles at the weekend crowning him the winner of the richest event in surfing history and sending him soaring up the ASP World Tour ratings as the Tour heads across to Europe.
Event No. 6 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour, Fanning took out Kelly Slater in the semi-finals to go head to head with Dane Reynolds in the final. "I'm overwhelmed," Fanning stated. "I guess it’s more about building momentum again this year and getting the hunger back.” With 4 events remaining including the much anticipated Rip Curl Pro Search in Portugal, Mick is very much back in the hunt to win the ASP World Title.
