The Rip Curl Women’s Pro Portugal kicked off today with a mammoth day of competition which saw Carissa Moore leading the action at Lagido and Rip Curl Wildcard and surfing icon Bethany Hamilton showing her prowess in the big surf.Now all eyes are on the charts and the mythical Supertubos for the 5th event on the women’s circuit, and the 8th event of the men’s ASP World Tour. Commenting on the event, official forecaster Magicseaweed's Ben Freeston said “A very powerful storm system looks set to form in the Atlantic bringing huge swell to European shores, if it arrives as currently forecast it’ll be one of the biggest October swells in over a decade of records.”
