Celebrating in true Rip Curl party style shoppers and guests were treated to fun, games, free flow beers and a special chance to win free shopping inside the brand new store.
During the day shoppers were given a token inviting them to the party later in the evening where 2 lucky winners were picked at random to win the store's first ever free shopping. The lucky pair were then given 30 seconds to run around the shop grabbing whatever they could. Guest shoppers stood open mouthed as they watched the two going wild in the aisles and taking home loot worth over 15 million Rupiah.
Some of Bali’s top surfers including Rip Curl team rider Garut Widiarta, along with Rizal Tanjung and Marlon Gerber to name a few, got involved in a ping pong tournament to win a hand shaped Timmy Patterson Surfboard. A total of 16 surfers put their names in and battled to get their hands on the very special prize. In the end it was SurfTime Magazine editor, Andrew Surya Nalendra who claimed the prize with his killer serve and backhand attack.
Patterson - the legendary surfboard shaper from California- flew in especially to demonstrate his skills in the shop’s specially created in-store shaping bay during the opening also spending time meeting and chatting with local surfers and groms.
He joins Rip Curl’s stable of world-renowned shapers producing an exclusive line of boards for the company including Darren Handley (Australia) Wade Tokoro (Hawaii) and Phil Byrne (Australia) firmly establishing Rip Curl the number 1 board manufacturer and supplier in the region.
Following the celebrations in store the party continued into the small hours or the morning at top Legian nightclub Eikon who hosted the Mirage boardshort and bikini fashion show with local talent strutting their stuff across the bar.
