Surf Update: 30th December 2010

Most of the surf spots around East coast of Malaysia is all blown out with very very bumpy waves. The only surf spot that is possible is Cherating. Waves arent that great but you get head height waves with strong rip current down the beach. I would say not much choice is available today as Cherating beach is the only hope. Everyone is surfing at the moment so i suppose the waves should be good in the late afternoon but you need a POPEYE arm to get to the point!!! Have fun and Happy Holidayzz everyone!!!
Have a wonderful weekend and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

BTW: It's been pouring 2 days in a row like cat & dogs....so be prepared!! Real wet season is back! It might rain for the whole weekend. Finger crossed for some sunshine!!!

Surf Update: 29th December 2010

Cherating Point- Waves are pumping today with overhead waves. Current are much lesser so its pretty easy to paddle out today. So get ready to get some good waves today. Latest Update: Afternoon was pretty strong rip again...lots lots lots of paddling to the point. You will get a Popeye Arm if you can get to surf at the point after 10 times!!! Wakakakkakakakekekekekkee.....

Kijal/ Quarry Point- Totally BLOWN OUT! Stay away from this spots. Not working today.

Chendor- Should be firing as Cherating Point is firing....still waiting for update from the surf crew as they are on their way to Chendor.  Just got an update: it was too bumpy and messy as the wind kicks in about 10am. I heard it was good from 7am-9am...so if u guys are heading down Thursday morning, get to Chendor at 7am and the rewards should be the yummiest!!!

Thanks Brenda for the updates!!!  Stay tuned for Thursday forecast!! Cheers,

Waves Update 28th December 2010

28th December 2010- This is the latest surf update fresh from the ocean!!!

Chendor-Bay

Huge waves, more than double overhead waves with no wall!!! Real storm swell...this spot is not working!!! :-(

Quarry Bay

Outer break looking at triple overhead swell but again, it is very stormy out there with strong wind!
No one is surfing...

Kijal/ Jetty

It's a big mess out there. DOnt even think about surfing here. heheheheheehehe
Probably 20-30 layers of whitewash before you hit the point!

Cherating Beach

Consistent overhead waves but comes with world class rip current. Waves not so good, big fat and ugly! But only this spot that can ride waves today.

More updates tomoro....thanks to Ivan & Aril for the details.

Cheers, Bryan

Surfing in Kudat, East Malaysia

This is the northern part of Sabah, East Malaysia. Couple of KK surfers head down to Kudat, Sabah to check out the surf point and it turn out to be so good. Im just wondering how often they get swell as they are right on the tip of the Sabah. They should be getting most of the swell/typhoon from Phillipines!!!!!!!! So here you guys, some of the pics taken by East Coast surfer (Charles).
If any of you guys interested to know where to surf or want to rent some boards from (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah), right now we do have few surfboards boards and bodyboards for rent. Just drop us an email ivan_nicholas@yahoo.com or charl_art@hotmail.com.

THANKS guys for all the info and all the pics to tell us how the wave's like in East Malaysia. Really appreciate the good work!

Busy Weekend at East Coast 27-2nd January 2011

Again we are bringing you another waves forecast for the year end of 2010. Hope everyone having a big fun surfing in Malaysia. If any of you is wondering how is the waves forecast for this weekend...ermm i would say that Santa was late this year. From 27th Dec to 2nd January, we will getting some good swell for the entire week. So for those who want to clear the annual holiday, this is the best time!!!!

Today Surf Check (27th December) at:

Chendor - Waves was head height n glassy  in the early morning. Only few local crews ridding the smoothies!!! Waves didnt work in the afternoon as the wind kicks in. This is the place to be when the swell kicks in!!! But again, this spot is not for beginners or faint hearth-ed!!

Cherating - Morning was not as good as expected with smaller swell. However, the waves kicks in later afternoon with head height waves. But as usual when there is bigger swell in Cherating, you will experience their world class rip current as well. Hahahhahahaha, so this is the best time to practice your paddling!!!

Kuala Terengganu - Waves kick in as well.....most of the waves is working in Belakang Sekolah beach break. Waves only works early in the morning....as really strong wind kicks in later the day. No Surfing for the rest of the day

If u guys have any shout-out on waves across Malaysia, feel free to send me email about waves update. Cheers, Bryan

Terengganu Go Surfing Day 2010 - Wrap Up

It was an awesome day at the beach with surfers, body-boarders and skim-boarders coming together to support the inaugural "Terengganu Go Surfing Day".
The aim of this event was to promote surfing and create awareness in the state of Kuala Terengganu. This 2 days exposure event covered basic surfing skills, safety and surfing etiquette targeted at the general public and children.
To participate in the event, all they had to do was show up, and sign up! All participants received free meals throughout the course of the event alongside goodies. Games were also held for the participants and spectators.

The first day was incredible, seeing surfers from all over the country as well as Singapore flooding onto Batu Buruk beach.
The number of participants was overwhelming with a total of 60 participants, more than double of the 30 we initially predicted. The workshop began by introducing the surf instructors, beach marshals, fire and rescue personnel to the 30 participants aged between 11 and 45 years old.
Through the course of the day, the participants learnt about the nature of the ocean, the rips and currents, reading waves, warming up and cooling down, basic surfing skills, equipment, etiquette on the ocean, water hazards and safety.

On it’s tremendous final day, with the low tide and the wind howling offshore. I remember one participant saying, "It’s such a waste that this is not a contest day, what awesome waves for a contest".

The level of surfing amazed the spectators as this was the first time seeing surfers throwing big sprays, tucking into barrels and landing aerials as demonstrated by the local talent such as the Malaysia Billabong Team Riders.
This was something new for the local spectators as usually, everyone stays away from the water during the monsoon season. Irrational beliefs about the ocean, thinking that its more dangerous.
Due to the overwhelming success of the workshop, we have been given the green light by the Tourism of Malaysia to hand in a proposal for the first surfing contest in Batu Buruk Beach scheduled for next year.
We Would like to thank our sponsors for this event - Rip Curl Bali, Rip Curl Malaysia, Surfer Girl Bali, ISC Indonesia, Quiksilver Malaysia, Tourism Malaysia, Bigfoot Industries, Satusuku Surf, Padang Surf, Marang Village & Spa and other respective sponsors. Last but not least, would like to Thank everyone involved in the event!!!

King of Kicker, Thai Wakepark, Bangkok

Super Stoked to take first place in Open Mens Wakeskate and third place in Open Men Wakeboard.   The compeition was insane and worked on a jam session in all open heats.

Open Wakeboard was amazing within the last 2 minutes of the Jam Session, Domnick stuck a TS BS 10, with Aye and me both sticking a Aye TS FS 10.

The format was best trick over 4 zones, with the kicker zone scoring double points, so it all came down to the scoring on the 1080's.

An amazing compeition, I turn 13 years old on Thursday. Yew !!
