14 November 2010, Kuta-Bali: In what could only be described as a nail biting climax to both an epic Rip Curl Surf and Music Festival event and an incredible 2010 Coca-Cola ISC tour season, Marlon Gerber’s first ISC tour win got Putra Hermawan his first 2010 Coca Cola ISC tour Championship victory in the final seconds of the 30 minute battle as Dedi Santosa’s last wave score fell short of the 8.65 points he needed to beat out Hermawan for the championship title.
Hermawan, a Rip Curl sponsored team rider, is the youngest ever ISC Tour Open Division champion at 18 years old
Gerber is a Bali native and internationally known free surfer who has graced magazine covers and been featured in many a surf film. He dedicated this his first ISC tour win to his friend Andy Irons who tragically passed away recently.
It was an incredible final day of surfing at Kuta Beach’s famous Halfways in what the local’s described as possibly the best wave conditions in recent memory, with two champions crowned, Putra Hermawan in the ISC Open Division and Husni for the second time in the Longboard Division, as well Dyah Rahayu Dewi taking her second win in a row in the Women’s Division and Jeren Kiring winning the National GromSearch Final.
Marlon Gerber also won the Coca-Cola Best Wave award and Ketut “Mega” Semadhi took home a brand new Kawasaki motorcycle for winning the Mirage Air Show.
Coca-Cola ISC Tour Open Division Results:
1. Marlon Gerber
2. Dedi Santosa
