Congratulations to Rip Curl's Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore who have both been crowned respective 2009 ASP World Champions in Hawaii.Heading into the final stop of the 2009 ASP World Tour season, Fanning held the ASP ratings’ lead over fellow Gold Coast surfer Joel Parkinson but with Parkinson’s Round 3 exit in the Billabong Pipe Masters, Fanning secured his second ASP World Title.
Gilmore claimed her 3rd consecutive ASP Womens World Title at Sunset Beach, making history as the only surfer ever to win the prestigious crown each year they have competed at the elite ASP World Tour level (men’s or women’s).
