You aint heard nothing yet...

A big shout out to Dylan and the guys at The People's Music Awards for officially heralding the future of music! Now, If you haven’t signed up yet and you love new music you may as well still be waiting for your Amstrad to load!
In short, The Peoples Music Awards gives the millions of talented unsigned musicians and producers out there the opportunity to showcase their songs, get feedback from the public and top industry professionals, and the recognition and publicity to take their career to the next level.

OK, so here’s the deal...The People's Music Awards is a new website where unsigned music artists and producers can upload their music to be heard and voted for by the public and top industry professionals. There’s a variety of different categories to cater for everyone - such as Hip hop, Indie, Rock, Dance, Pop, RnB etc, in which you can submit your music, and each artist is able to enter one song per competition.
There are the three rounds:
  • Round 1: The people's vote
  • Round 2: The guest judges round, where industry professionals listen to, vote, and give useful feedback on the songs they have heard.
  • Round 3: The Peoples Vote (Final)
The final round is all up to the people to choose their winner. You simply select the top 5 artists per category using each artists own music player and after 5 weeks of voting the leading 2 artists in each category will then go head to head until voting closes on March 22nd 2009, and both will have the opportunity to play at the awards ceremony where the winner will be announced! The winner of each competition will not only receive the People's Music Award trophy and the title 'winner of the Peoples Music Awards 2008' but will also be included on our 2008/09 winners compilation album!

Yes, it’s brilliant for artists but equally fantastic for music lovers! It’s like finding the holy grail and drinking from the eternal fountain of new music and since tuning in the Coffin on Cake office has been buzzing with dirty new beats, but don’t just take our word for it check out some of the incredible guest judges including Annie Nightingale, Eddy Temple-Morris, Tom Lewis, and Alex Kenning and their favourites.

Go on, give your ears a good time: http://www.thepeoplesmusicawards.com

Throw the book at it...

Our props go out to Phil Jarratt this week who is celebrating the release of For The Love written by Kelly Slater and himself, with a charity fundraiser in Back Beach Noosa.
With hundreds of Kelly's photos and stacks of interviews, we're sure it's going to be a be an incredible read and wish we could escape the British winter to join in the festivities but for now will have to settle with putting it on our Christmas list...I know for sure we've been very good this year!
Another book Phil's been working on is the first ever Surfing Year Book, the brainchild of Bruce Boal (Mr SurfersVillage.com), which is being published early in the New Year.
Set to be the official Almanac of surfing we can't wait to get our webbed mitts on it and know it'll be a must-have for every surfer on the planet.
So a huge congrats to Phil for his literary adventures and if you've been living under a rock and don't know what we're talking about then you better hot foot onto one of the following websites and order copies for yourself:
www.backbeach.net.au

The BLUE® Project out in ForSE

The Global Forum for Sport and the Environment conference (G-ForSE), sponsored by Volvo and organised by the United Nations Environment Programme and Global Sports Alliance, took place in Alicante, Spain last weekend.
BLUE Ambassadors, Conrad Humphreys and Jose Luengo joined 200 other international delegates that included governing sporting bodies, Olympic host city representatives, sport organisations and event organisers at the three day conference, which coincided with the start of the first In-Shore race for the Volvo Ocean Race.
Representing the BLUE® Climate and Oceans Project, Conrad delivered an inspiring and thought provoking presentation to the conference delegates about how sport has the ability to achieve much more than just awareness, by engaging people in environmental issues and evoking action.
Speaking about the conference, Conrad comments: "The UNEP G-ForSE conference was a great insight and helped us to gain a better understanding of how the major sports governing bodies are adapting to the challenges and threats posed by climate change.
"There are many sports that are taking initiatives on waste, water and energy and I hope that one of the outcomes from the conference is that the lead organisations can share their best practices with the smaller sports bodies.
"What is clear, is that everyone in the sport industry should use their business relations to influence other partners to adopt some minimum standards. The first step to reducing your impact is an understanding of how to manage your carbon footprint. The opportunities for Sport are vast and I'm confident that we can use the powerful image of sport to inspire and motivate people to reduce their impact on the environment".
For further information about the G-ForSE 2008, please co to www.g-forse.com for more details on The BLUE® Climate and Oceans Project go to www.theblueproject.org
